If so, these roles are ones you might want to consider.   Vix is a global organization and has been a leader in automated fare collection for over 25 years.  Our Operations Teams are critical to the success of the organisation as they ensure that the products we produce work for our customers.  Our Senior Software Engineers are part of the teams that make this happen.   We have two positions and they are more challenging than your average software engineer roles.  The challenge is that you will be working on existing live ticketing systems whilst customers are using them; making improvements to usability, whilst not affecting the millions of people who are using the systems.  Commuters still need to get to work, holiday makers need to go on their holidays and kids still need to get the train or the bus to school.  Our system cannot just be taken offline so we can refine and improve it, it still has to work well and this is where the challenge lies. How do you make refinements and improvements whilst the system is still running?  It’s not easy, which is why you need to be talented to do this.   Our office is in the heart of the CBD.  It’s a friendly office with monthly socials and free fruit daily.  We are very relaxed but our teams are dedicated solution finders.   If this challenge sounds like something you would like to get your teeth into; if you are an experienced software engineer with experience in C (and C++ of course) we would love to hear from you!  We need someone who is a good problem solver.  It would also be helpful if you have the following skills: SQL, networking, multi-threading, java, javascript, linux, scripting, RPC and good problem solving skills.   These are permanent roles, so come and join us on the journey!
