Overview

The Cloud Operations Team Lead is responsible for assisting Cloud Operations Management in building, supporting and maintaining global non-production and production core products for all Vix customers on Amazon Web Services. This includes a 24/7 cEMV SaaS Product along with several deployments of Vix backoffice fare collection systems. This particular role serves as an advisor to the Cloud Operations team members whilst also managing incident escalations and responding to daily operational requests and challenges. The Team Lead will also provide insight into team cohesion and morale to assist the Cloud Operations operating model.

Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities

● Support and Participate in the use of DevOps pipeline and associated practices for CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) - Test - coded test cases to test fare transit system functionality and deployment methods - Release - coded updates to release notes and utilities - Deploy - automated deployment of new code to non-production and production environments - Operate - respond and improve monitoring and contribute to improvement projects

● Work with team members to maintain global continuity

● Supporting and participating in the FTS (Follow The Sun) global on-call model utilizing ITSM and Agile best practices

● Ensure all works are being recorded in the proper ticket tools and updating relevant documentation

● Stay current with technology trends and emerging best practices to provide solution proposals

● Participate in Information Security Training, reviews internally and adhere by the PCI and other applicable security standards

● Build working relationships with Platform Operations and other business units within Vix to support any DevOps and other collaborations that may arise

● Perform duties in line with Vix Code of Conduct and as per directions by Cloud Operations Management

 

Leadership Responsibilities

● Breed culture of a security-first mindset in all actions

● Liaise and in-synch with other Cloud Operations Team Leads on a frequent basis across the globe to ensure any improvement efforts are propagated across the global platform ● Technical escalations around daily operations, maintenance and production environments security according to ITSM policies

● Leading, coaching, and mentoring Cloud Operations team members around technical skills, communication, and collaboration.

● Manage and conduct performance and development reviews as outlined from Cloud Operations Management.

● Delegation, management, and review of daily work streams (BAU) for the Cloud Operations team

● In consultation with the Cloud Operations Management, ensure that team members complete Information Security training, follow PCI standards, and escalate any capacity or commercial challenges that may arise

● Monitor the team’s capacity and utilization through after-hours work records and weekly time sheets

● Provide insight around resource planning ahead of any upcoming major projects

● Optimize AWS cost management and environment deployments

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

● High Level of communication skills (Documentation and Presentation)

● Qualified in either Microsoft or other Technology Industry standard certifications

● Ability to multitask and work between conflicting priorities

● Good understanding and working knowledge of ITSM (ITIL and/or Agile) Frameworks

● Good understanding and working knowledge of DevSecOps practices

● Ability to Plan, Prioritize and Organize work for self and others to achieve goals and deadlines

● Good understanding and working knowledge around on premises and Cloud Technologies (Infrastructure, Development, Applications, Database, Storage, Cloud, and other market leading technologies)

● Good team orientation and a collaborative work style

● Proven ability to work in a methodical, accurate and timely manner

● Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity

● Strong written and verbal communication skills

● Recognizes when escalation is required

● Demonstrates a commitment to completing work activities

● Ability to work both autonomously and as a team

● Demonstrates a customer service approach to their work activities

● Must be able to obtain the applicable regional police or background clearance that meets the company’s requirements

 

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

● Understanding of public transport industry

● Amazon Web Services experience or certification

● Bachelor degree IT management or a related discipline is desirable

● Knowledge around Security practices which includes PCI

● Formal training and certification in DevOps practices

● Architectural level of thinking

 

Essential Experience:

● 2 years Leading a small to medium size team(1-8) or have been in a Senior Role in a team before

● 2 years Technical Operations experience

● 2 years working with PCI or sensitive data

● 1 year Project-oriented environment experience

● Worked with any ITSM / Agile focused Ticketing tools

● Mentoring Team members - career pathing

● Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to deliver project outcomes within specified parameters including timeframes and objectives

 

Desirable Experience:

● 2 years Performing a DevSecOps role

● Experience with cloud native technologies - AWS

● Experience with internal audit and assessment

● Experience with PCI-DSS audits or other sensitive data standards

● Have supported Global Operations and being part of Rotational roster (After hours support) where required to support production environments
