Vix Technology is a leading provider of automated fare collection (AFC) systems for transit agencies globally, and has been an innovator in this space for over 25 years. Vix’s goal is to provide a better customer journey, both for transit riders as well as for transit agencies. Vix is a product-focused company and has spent the last three years building a core AFC solution to address the set of common market needs in the transit payments space. Vix utilizes cutting edge technology based on proven contactless payment methods (RFID cards, NFC smartphones) to deliver flexible, secure, and auditable payment solutions that vastly improve the customer experience of paying for transit. Vix deployed the ORCA card system in Seattle in 2009 and has just recently deployed a similar system in Dallas, TX: the GoPass Tap system.
At Vix, the Lead Solutions Architect is responsible for total ownership of the technical solution and serves as the primary Vix technical point of contact for a specific project. The Solution Architect leads the design phase with the project team and customers to document the solution Vix will provide, with a focus on scope management and ensuring traceability to contract requirements. This includes leading customer design workshops, documenting and diagramming the proposed system including integrations, and facilitating the customer sign-off of design documentation within the contract schedule and budget.
Following design sign-off, the Lead Solution Architect is responsible for working closely with internal and external teams including Product Development, System Integration, System Operations, Vix development partners and subcontractors, and customer vendors to ensure that implementation is consistent with the approved design and that the solution will meet all contract requirements. The Solution Architect must also manage customer expectation throughout implementation as well as participating in functional demonstrations led by the Vix System Integrations team.
The Lead Solution Architect works closely with the project team, specifically supporting Program and Project Management updates to the customer throughout the delivery phase. Once the system is in operation, the Solutions Architect develops and implements plans for the continuous improvement of the operational system, including leading the design and implementation of requested new functionality and changes to existing functionality for the solution.
